Extremely decorative Morbier Grandfather Tall Case clock with a circular porcelain dial hand painted with Roman numerals and a pressed brass colored pendulum.
Handpainted floral decorations throughout.
The French Morbier clock is a provincial clock, so it comes from the country side, not Paris or other large metrolpolitan centers. The clocks were named after the French village of Morbier, between Paris and Geneva near Switzerland.
Typically these clocks were built by farmers looking for something to do during the cold winter months, then sold the carvings to builders who would travel through the town solely to buy these pieces and assemble them into beautiful working timepieces.
*Clocks are antique and not in guaranteed working condition.
